Refreshing Minty Peppermint Cordial (Printable)

Sweet, mint-infused vodka cordial with fresh peppermint leaves and simple syrup, perfect for chilled drinks or cocktails.

# Ingredient List:

→ Base

01 - 17 fl oz vodka (at least 40% ABV, unflavored)

→ Syrup

02 - 1 1/3 cups granulated sugar
03 - 1 cup water

→ Flavor

04 - 1 large bunch fresh peppermint leaves (about 1.4 oz)
05 - 1 tsp pure peppermint extract (optional)

→ Color (optional)

06 - a few drops green food coloring

# How to Make:

01 - Rinse and gently pat dry the peppermint leaves. Lightly bruise them with your hands to release their oils.
02 - Combine the peppermint leaves with vodka in a clean jar or bottle. Seal tightly and store in a cool, dark place for 5 to 7 days, shaking gently once daily.
03 - After infusion, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the peppermint leaves.
04 - In a saucepan, heat sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
05 - Mix the cooled syrup with the infused vodka. Stir in peppermint extract if using, and add green food coloring for color.
06 - Pour the cordial into a sterilized bottle and seal. Let rest for 2 to 3 days before serving to develop flavor.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It brings a cool, refreshing twist to your drinks that feels like a little treat just for you
  • Making it yourself means the flavor is always fresh and you can tweak it exactly how you like
02 -
  • Patience is key: infusing the vodka long enough ensures the mint flavor is pronounced but smooth
  • Fresh peppermint is non-negotiable; dried just doesn't give you that burst of brightness
03 -
  • Always bruise the peppermint leaves gently to coax out the oils without tearing them into bits
  • Let the syrup cool completely before mixing with your infused vodka to avoid any cooking off of delicate flavors
