01 - Spread 1 tablespoon softened butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
02 - Place two bread slices butter-side down on a clean work surface. Spread 2 tablespoons pizza sauce over the unbuttered side of each slice.
03 - Layer mozzarella cheese slices, pepperoni (if using), Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, and dried basil over the sauced bread.
04 - Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing up, to form two complete sandwiches.
05 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot.
06 - Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until bread turns golden brown and cheese melts completely.
07 - Remove from skillet, let rest for 1–2 minutes, slice diagonally, and serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping if desired.
